Dark Millennium Online Release Date

While our last endeavor did not live up to our expectations (R.I.P. Ungrim), we left WAR a tattered and broken game, slowly sinking in the wake of our glory. We claimed every PvP server first and repeatedly broke the backs of Order without mercy. It was unfortunate that the game could not satiate our battle lust, so we have moved on, preparing for what is arguably the greatest established IP for a new PvP MMO: Warhammer 40,000. We are excited about 40k's arrival to the MMO genre and we're dedicated to maintaining our status as a PvP powerhouse as well as a noted leader in PvE. The grim, dark nature of the 40k universe suits us well, and we have embraced it through years of video and tabletop gaming.

We are recruiting all forces of the Imperium.  Burn the Heretic! Kill the Mutant! Purge the Unclean!

We believe that the guild is greater than any one player, each of us is willing to take whatever steps are necessary to ensure a team victory. We are experienced, brutal, and most of our members have MMO roots that go back to EQ, UO, or even MUDs. We are generally hated by all players, regardless of faction - and thats the way we like it. We are the players that top damage/healing/kills in SCs, the players that fight against the odds when others don't have the balls to, the players that enemies flee from & fear.

We are the bulwark, the lance, the tip of the spear. Do you have what it takes to join us? APPLY HERE

Your Freedom, Under Attack!

Today, Congress holds hearings on the first American Internet censorship system.

If this Bill passes the Internet and free speech will never be the same.

Join all of us to stop this bill

In an effort to stifle free thinking, destroy communication, control information, and hide the truth, those who have been pushed into the light due to recent events such as "Occupy Wall Street" have fired back. They have used their political minions on Capitol Hill to push forward a bill that truly is in direct opposition to the freedom of mankind.

As President Kennedy warned us so long ago:
"There is very grave danger that in an announced need for increase security, will be seized upon by those anxious to expand its meaning to the very limits of official censorship and concealment."

This statement was made in 1963. It has been proven true over and over again as we have seen the destruction of our inalienable rights by those who seek the complete control of free peoples.

Today, in this time, we must decide if our children are to be free, or slaves to the elite.

World Of Warcraft Mists of Pandaria!

by Z A N N, 81 days ago

Mists Of Pandaria
[/url]

New Class
The Monk

Pandaren masters have chosen to share their ancient martial arts with young fighters in both the Alliance and Horde. Harnessing their inner strength and potent "chi" energy, Monks are extremely capable in every role: damage, defense, and healing.

Forum Image

Monks are masters of bare-handed combat, choosing to draw their weapons only for devastating finishing moves. Monk healers bring harmony and balance to every group, healing even the most grievous of injuries with ancient remedies and focused spiritual arts. And few can hope to out-last the unquenchable prowess of the Monk Brewmaster, whose empowering beverages and unpredictable combat style allow them to absorb incredible amounts of punishment.

New Race
Meet the Pandaren! Faction: Alliance / Horde

Couched in myth and legend, rarely seen and even more rarely understood, the enigmatic pandaren have long been a mystery to the other races of Azeroth. The noble history of the pandaren people stretches back thousands of years, well before the empires of man and before even the sundering of the world.

Denizens of a wondrous and fertile land, the pandaren once labored under the oppressive thumb of a monstrous race of ancient warlords known as the Mogu. Through tenacity, diplomacy, and a unique form of unarmed combat, the pandaren staged a successful revolution that deposed the Mogu and established a pandaren empire that would prosper for thousands of years.

During the bleak days that preceded the sundering of the world, when demons flooded onto Azeroth and threw the entirety of the mortal realm into jeopardy, the last Emperor of the pandaren discovered a way to protect his land from the devastation. His deal with fate shrouded his land within an impenetrable mist for ten thousand years, but the nature of his transaction has left Pandaria haunted ever since...

Forum Image

Wanderlust

It is the rare pandaren indeed who sought a way beyond the mist. Generations ago, pandaren explorers began to gather on the back of a giant turtle: Shen-zin Su. The great sea turtle roamed Azeroth's oceans, perhaps the only contact pandaren had with the outside world. Eventually, they too lost contact with their mist-shrouded homeland.

Players who choose to create a pandaren character will start their journey on the back of Shen-zin Su. When the great turtle is threatened, and their whole wandering homeland is in jeopardy of being swallowed by the sea, players will have to accelerate their training and spring into action.

During their time on the turtle, players will first encounter the Alliance and Horde. Before they are finished, they'll have to make the most important decision of their lives: Which of the two factions will they support as they venture out to heal a world broken by the Cataclysm and threatened by a global war?

New DMO "Imperium of Man" trailer and screenies!

by BENZIN, 526 days ago

Finally, after suffering through nearly 3 days of gamescom hell, we have some real DMO info!

And on a side note, THQ has dropped a fresh trailer for Space Marine:
http://www.thq.com/uk/thqtv/index?movieId=4196

I must say, the sexiness was worth the wait.

Ahh the Imperium...
Though we all knew it would be, today it was confirmed as the first playable race.

And while the trailer was nice, the real gems are these nine new screenshots of pure awesomesauce:

THQ's Danny Bilson is a God

Getting information about DMO from gamescom is like pulling teeth... but THQ's Danny Bilson is trying to make up for it by spilling his guts in this interview with Eurogamer.

http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2010-08-17-thq-on-everything-interview

Nice little Q&A about Space Marine, DMO, and DoW 3

About DMO:
Danny Bilson wrote:
What does being an Inquisitor mean? That's down the road somewhere. I always say too much in these things, but I get excited
Danny Bilson wrote:
But you won't be able to be a Space Marine right away, because that's a very unique class, if you know the universe. The road there is a great road, and they are in the game.
Danny Bilson wrote:
But I'm insisting we encounter and have experiences with some of the other core six chapters along the way.
Danny Bilson wrote:
But in Dark Millennium is just that. It's a Dark Millennium. It's not goofy.
Danny Bilson wrote:
... you know how those betas come really early? Just keep in touch and you could be one of the first in.

Thanks go to Chowdah for this find!

E3 Sucks, but at least we got some real Warhammer 40k info

Warhammer 40,000: Dark Millennium Online seems to capture the gritty universe we have all been waiting for...

Gameplay trailer:

DMO Official site wrote:
On the very edge of the galaxy lies the Sargos Sector. For centuries it was rendered uninhabitable and isolated by volatile Warp Storms. Even now, deep within the sector the very fabric of reality is unraveling. Only the ancient Sentinel Devices hold the Warp at bay.

But the ravages of time and meddling of humanity have weakened the Sentinel Devices-and now, the battle for these lost worlds is at hand. Drawn to the conflict, the great races of the galaxy descend upon the Sargos Sector, seeking to preserve reality-or to tear it asunder.

Side with the forces of Order, or the vile hosts of Destruction, in a war that will unlock ancient secrets, reveal dark purposes, and determine the fate of the Sargos Sector. For in this dark millennium, there is no peace amongst the stars, only an eternity of carnage and slaughter.

Though we haven't gotten all the details, we've got some info:

Video Breakdown:
As we had nothing better to do yesterday, Andrew, Travis, Mario and myself attempted to draw out as much info as we could about the game from the meager but butthole-puckering offering in the trailer. Kraven has added a few points that need to be looked at as well.

Starting with the obvious, it's clear that Space Marines, Orks, and Chaos Space Marines will all be playable.

There were a myriad of vehicles from Ork DeffKoptas and Trukks to (C)SM Bikes and of course the imposing Titan. Though it's impossible to tell exactly how they will be implemented, the important thing is they ARE implemented. Also on this point, every clip where the Titan appears seems to be in roughly the same location (to the left of an aged titan shell), indicating that it is indeed a scenario-based event rather than random happenstance.

Finally, throughout the trailer are several hints at combat gameplay. Knockdowns, cover, and (sigh) KBs.

0:13 & 0:36
Nurgle monstrosity thing. From the spread he appears to be a mob, not playable. But this implies that nurgle will play a major role in the storylines.

0:18 & 0:44
Chaos Heretic/Cultist. Shows more class choices than merely power-armor clad chaos marines.

0:24 & 0:29
At center is an SM that appears to be in Librarian armor.

0:35
On the right we can see a Techpriest.

0:40
you can see the word 'cover' popping up from the target... more proof we are looking at a Gears-style gameplay

Also we can see four red lines acting as a box-shaped targeting reticle around the target, indicating an auto-target feature commonplace in mmos. However, once the shooting begins, a second circular reticle also appears on the target, possibly for aim or merely and indicator for the player he has engaged. I believe these to be a sure-fire sign that there will NOT be manual aiming.

A final point on 0:40, you can see that the attacker is level 30 (the mob is lvl 5), yet his single hotbar is not full of abilities. I take this as a good sign, pointing toward a game with fewer abilities that are always useful, rather than the MMO standard of 100 semi-useful or situational abilities.

0:41
Once again we are in the titan scenario (you can see the old titan shell in the far left of the screen). But this time we are able to get a feel for range, as many of the opponants are engaging one another from a fair distance. This type of extended range will further emphasize use of cover, possibly suppression, and of course the importance of closing distance as quickly as possible. Basically: Less button mashing, more strat!

0:45 & 0:53 & 0:56
The first glimpse of a Chaos Dreadnaught. Though from the video it appears to be a mob, it is nevertheless in the game, and that is always a good sign. Keep an eye on the supurb distortion effects from the Dnaughts flamer.

0:47
Looks like multiple players are in the trukk. One steering, one on the gun emplacement DAKKA DAKKA (possibly more room).

0:48 He is knocking down CSM with a warhammer,
if knockbacks are in the game, time will tell the magnitude

0:49
Imperial Guard. They do not appear to be players, but looks can be decieving, as they are located directly in front of the aged titan shell (damn that thing is in almost every action shot!).

0:51
Scout Marine. Clear as day.

0:57
Also solved is the mystery of wtf is that. You can see what appears to be the word "Imperator" on the lower trim of his robe, as well as "V" or "5" as a roman numeral on his right gauntlet. Given his unique white on white attire and psyker abilities, he is either an Inquisitor or an Imperial Confessor. What is not clear is if this is merely a mob or playable... lets hope both!
http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/productDetail.jsp?catId=cat30046&prodId=prod1090125

So far, we only see 2 major issues that could be problematic:
1. Knockbacks (knockDOWNS would be fine)
2. Two-faction system (implied on the DMO website). Seriously, this is 40k... it NEEDS a faction for every race. Lets learn from WAR's mistakes.

Stay turned for more info and updates as we get them!

PS: Travis coined the phrase DMO (pronounced Dee-Mo) last night for "Dark Millennium Online". Its official.

Gearing up for 40k

by BENZIN, 674 days ago

Forum Image

Well, WAR proved that merely having a great IP does not guarantee you can make a great game. We all had our gripes, but there is no reason to dwell on what could have been. We moved on from WAR long ago, and Völkermord is once again setting our sights to the future...

The FAR future.

Forum Image

THQ, the game company responsible for the superb "Dawn of War" RTS series, has teamed with Vigil Games (creators of the critcally acclaimed "Darksiders") to develop a Warhammer 40,000 MMO.

Forum Image

The official game reveal is taking place at this years E3, which we are greatly anticipating.

Stay tuned for more info and updates.
